We recycle these items: PaperCardboardPalletsSteel DrumsAcetoneToner CartridgesLubricantsOur BPRI (Bishop Paper Reduction Initiative) has saved literally tens of millions of sheets of paper since its inception. We use plywoods that are CARBII rated, and come from FSC and SFI-rated mills. Not only do these plywoods contribute to the overall quality of the air in your home, they come from forests that should be there for the long haul. All of our composite boards are CARBI rated. This is the highest CARB rating available for composite panel products. Our finishing processes are well below the VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) and HAPS (Hazardous Air Pollutants) limits set by the United State Environmental Protection Agency and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management. And by working closely with our finish vendors, we continue to find finds ways to reduce these levels even more. We changed our 40-hour work week from 5 eight-hour days to 4 ten-hour days. This reduces automotive greenhouse gas emissions generated during work travel by 20%. Our brochures are printed on Rainforest Alliance certified papers, and our printers are FSC Certified. Our EcoSmart cabinetry allows our customers to make environmentally responsible choices. |
Bishop’s EcoSmart Cabinetry uses materials which are sustainable, recyclable and/or which are better for the air we breathe, so that you can make environmentally responsible choices for your home. |

One ecologically responsible option for doors is our collection of veneered exotic doors. Our contemporary veneer slab door styles feature cores that are from 100% recycled/reclaimed fiber content. As such, they meet the Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP) specification 2-06 from the Composite Panel Association (CPA). They are also CARB1 compliant and may meet the LEED criteria for MR 4.1 and/or MR 4.2. Bamboo is a fast-growing grass that is easily sustainable and is readily manufactured into veneers. The reconstituted Wenge, Zebrawood and Rosewood veneers used on these doors replicate the grain and color of these wood species, so that the look is achieved while leaving intact these species which are under environmental pressure.
